Where Is  Gilbert ‘Toby’ Curtsinger Of ‘Pappygate’ Infamy Now?

He went from beloved smalltown softball player to infamous bourbon heister and finally to inmate. But where is Gilbert “Toby” Curtsinger now?

Gilbert “Toby” Curtsinger once loved his existence in Franklin County, Kentucky. And why wouldn’t he? Because he explains in Netflix’s new docuseries“Heist,” a six-part series that concentrates on a number of America’s greatest heists, he was extremely popular.

He would be a star around the local softball team and he ran having a pack of buff “meatheads,” as his wife Julie calls them within the series. And that he loved his job at the bourbon distillery Zoysia Trace, where he labored for 26 years. He accomplished it effectively from 2008 until he was caught with barrels of stolen bourbon on his property in 2015.

In that time though, “Pappygate” happened. In 2013, 195 bottles from the coveted liquor and 27 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle Rye were reported stolen from Zoysia Trace Distillery, WKYT reports. The stolen bottles were worth greater than $26,000 and also the liquor heist made worldwide headlines. 

When Curtsinger was caught in 2015, he was fingered for that 2013 heist but he denied that particular crime.

He and nine others — including their own wife — were indicted on multiple charges, including in participating in organized crime. However, only Curtsinger offered time in jail.

“They switched all individuals guys against me,” he stated with tears in the eyes in “Heist.” He continued to state he misses and loves his former teammates and buddies.

He pleaded guilty in 2017 to theft by illegal taking and receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment only offered thirty days.

Meanwhile, a guy named Greg Anglin allegedly accepted to being behind the infamous 2013 Pappygate. Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Shaun Player admits in “Heist” that Curtsinger’s crimes were unfairly lumped into what Anglin did. Anglin never was billed with anything while he was granted immunity before his confession, Player mentioned.

However for Curtsinger, his reputation to be the “Pappygate” ringleader persists even though he has run out of prison he’s still coping with the repercussions of his actions. He stated his lengthy-term plans happen to be crushed.

“Work, increase your 401K, retirement, I’d everything set, that simply got smashed,” he stated in “Heist.” “I reached accept things i put my children through, things i put my mother and father through, everybody I understand.”

Derek Doneen, director from the series, told Archiweekend.com that Curtsinger particularly feels shame for which he put his two kids, who make appearances within the series, through.

“He’s very active in the kids’ lives,” Doneen told Archiweekend.com, adding that Curtsinger made him fried snapping turtle. “It’s kind of wonderful to consume together and find out how he is doing live daily.
