Prosecutors File 71 More Charges Against Man Who Plowed Through Christmas Parade

Prosecutors added a large number of charges Wednesday against a guy charged with driving his Sports utility vehicle via a Christmas parade in suburban Milwaukee this past year, killing six people and injuring dozens.

Investigators believe Darrell Brooks Junior. drove his Ford Escape in to the parade in downtown Waukesha on November. 21.

Prosecutors billed him 2 days later with six counts of first-degree intentional homicide. They added 71 additional counts Wednesday, including multiple counts of reckless endangerment, hit-and-run involving dying, bail jumping and battery. Additionally they attached a use-of-a-harmful weapon modifier towards the homicide and endangerment counts, which may increase each sentence by 5 years if he’s charged.

Court public records show Brooks was billed with endangerment in Milwaukee County in This summer 2020 but published $500 bail in March. He was arrested in Milwaukee County again on November. 5 for allegedly ruling mom of his child together with his Sports utility vehicle. He left of jail 2 days prior to the parade after posting $1,000 bail.

Prosecutors alleged within an amended complaint filed Wednesday he punched the lady yesterday the parade and moments before he drove in it.

Brooks’ attorney, Jeremy Perri, did not immediately react to a note seeking comment.

Milwaukee County Da John Chisholm has had intense critique for allowing his office to recommend Brooks’ bail be set at $1,000 within the November situation. Chisholm has stated a youthful, overworked assistant prosecutor suggested that much cla of bail so she could proceed to other cases. She never saw an assessment from the dangers Brooks could pose towards the community since the assessment never was joined in to the district attorney’s office’s computer, Chisholm told county officials in December.

Tamara Durand, 52, Jane Kulich, 52, LeAnna Owen, 71, Virginia Sorenson, 79, Wilhelm Hospel, 81, and Jackson Sparks, 8, died because of the crash.
