A Detroit-area man whose decades imprisonment for drug dealing and act as an informant inspired the film “White Boy Rick” filed a suit Tuesday seeking $100 million, claiming he was coerced into assisting police while only a helpless teen.

Richard Wershe Junior., 52, offered roughly 3 decades imprisonment in Michigan before his release in 2017, adopted by a couple of more years inside a Florida prison for an unrelated crime.

Wershe’s suit in federal court in Detroit alleges that his troubles within the 1980s were associated with the pressures of pleasing local police and federal agents who used him being an informant and frequently sent him into drug dens.

Wershe’s story was the foundation from the 2018 film “White Boy Ron,” starring Matthew McConaughey and Richie Merritt. The title known Wershe’s nickname in the more youthful days, a nickname he dislikes.

His attorney, Nabih Ayad, acknowledged that Detroit yet others named within the suit will probably reason that Wershe’s constitutional claims are extremely old to create to the court.

“This is really a unique situation. … Our Metabolic rate, our justice system, and God-given to all humanity calls about this court to finally bring justice to some man whose existence continues to be obtained from him in the tender chronilogical age of 14 completely as much as 51 years old,” the suit states.

Detroit police spokesman Rudy Harper declined to comment, saying the department hasn’t seen the suit.
