Man Dubbed ‘February ninth Killer’ Extradited For Ladies Murdered 2 Yrs Apart

A guy continues to be extradited from Mexico to manage murder charges in Utah, and government bodies say he wiped out two women exactly 2 yrs apart greater than a decade ago.

Juan Arreola-Murrillo, 41, was billed with irritated murder, irritated robbery and irritated burglary, based on CBS affiliate KUTV. Lately unsealed documents identified Arreola-Murrillo because the murder suspect dubbed the “February ninth Killer.”

Sonia Mejia, 29, and Damiana Castillo, 57, were murdered in their Salt Lake County homes in Feb 2006 and Feb 2008, correspondingly.

Based on the Utah Department of Public Safety, Sonia Mejia resided in Taylorsville, Utah — just south of Salt Lake City — together with her common-law husband and eight-year-old boy during the time of her murder. Around the morning of her dying, Mejia was home alone when witnesses say they saw her speaking for an unknown Hispanic male at her door. One witness saw the person assault Mejia before forcefully entering her residence and shutting the doorway behind him.

Mejia’s husband found her body after he came back from work your evening.

Mejia was sexually assaulted and strangled to dying, based on the Department of Public Safety. She was six several weeks pregnant during the time of her dying.

Her attacker also stole her Ford Escort, that was present in a parking area four days later, and also the jewellery she’d been putting on.

2 yrs later, Damiana Castillo was discovered murdered at her West Valley City apartment. She’d apparently left focus on Saturday, February. 9, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. based on Salt Lake City news outlet KSL her boy found her body the following morning around 10:00 a.m., he told Salt Lake ABC affiliate KTVX, on the floor included in a cushion.

He was deported in the U . s . States later in 2008 after pleading guilty to individuals charges.

Salt Lake County Da Sim Gill claimed they’d known of Arreola-Murrillo’s identity because the 2016 burglary the situation but needed to take a seat on it because of the delicate nature of extradition.  

“Once somebody is really a foreign national who leaves, we all do have certain diplomatic responsibilities,” stated Gill, based on Fox 13. “In Mexico, we have to assure we won’t ask for the dying penalty.”

Using the dying penalty from the table, Arreola-Murrillo faces existence imprisonment if charged from the murders.

“Whenever you possess an unsolved homicide, you depart this wound, you depart this insufficient justice,” stated Gill, based on KUTV. “It is all about getting a degree of of justice towards the victims and a few way of measuring justice to the community in general.”
