Man Arrested In 1989 Murder Of Twenty-two-Year-Old And Cold Situation Sexual Assault Of Some Other Lady In The Same Apartment Complex

It’s been greater than 30 years since a 22-year-old Arizona lady was discovered dead in her own apartment in 1989, but investigators now believe they’ve arrested the person accountable for the brutal murder along with a separate cold situation sexual assault in the same apartment complex the following year.

Thomas Cox was arrested in Colorado Springs and extradited to Arizona after DNA and fingerprint evidence allegedly linked the 58-year-old towards the crimes, based on a probable cause statement acquired by Archiweekend.com.

Susan Amy Morse is discovered dead in her own Mesa apartment on March. 16, 1989 after she unsuccessful to appear to operate and her concerned parents requested a welfare check, based on the court public records along with a news releases from police.

The 22-year-old have been beaten, sexually assaulted and asphyxiated by having an extension cord. She was discovered dead in her own bed using the covers opened up round her, government bodies stated.

The DNA match was confirmed after investigators staked out his Colorado Springs home and retrieved a Styrofoam cup, lid and straw in the trash, that was discovered to possess DNA that matched the crime scene evidence, based on the probable cause statement.

Investigators say these were also in a position to match a print found on a screen that were taken off among the victim’s home windows to prints obtained from Cox for misdemeanor offenses committed within the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.

Mesa Police Detective Richard Encinas told Archiweekend.com that although Morse’s parents have left, police could make contact with a cousin and aunt from the victim.

Mesa Police Sgt. Chuck Trapani told local station KSAZ-TV the surviving victim seemed to be pleased a suspect continues to be arrested.

He’s now facing as many as 16 counts, including first-degree murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, and burglary.
