Man Allegedly Shot Mother, Stepfather To Dying Before His More youthful Brothers and sisters

A Georgia man is charged with killing his mother and stepfather before his more youthful brothers and sisters just 72 hours after Christmas.

Deputies in the Oconee County Sheriff’s Department were known as to some home in Watkinsville — about 10 miles south from the College of Georgia in Athens — just a little after night time on Tuesday for any report of the shooting, based on a pr release in the Oconee County Sheriff’s department.

“On arrival, 2 adults put together within the home deceased from apparent gunshot wounds,” the pr release states. “2 juveniles were also found in the home unharmed.”

The suspect, 20-year-old Peyton Moyer, had already fled the scene within the victim’s vehicles when first responders showed up in the home.

People from the Athens Clarke County Police could track him lower and arrest him “after a brief pursuit,” based on the sheriff’s department.

They identified the shooting victims as Moyer’s mother Ashley Schutza, 41, and Benjamin Cruz, 54, Moyer’s stepfather. Oconee County Sheriff James Hale told the Atlanta Journal-Metabolic rate the two juveniles in the scene were Moyer’s 16-year-old and 4-year-old siblings. They weren’t physically injured throughout the shooting.

Due to the existence of his more youthful brothers and sisters throughout the shooting of his parents, officials billed Moyer with one count of cruelty to children additionally towards the two counts of murder he faces within the deaths of Schutza and Cruz. 

It isn’t obvious if Moyer includes a lawyer, and that he remains in jail without bond.

Investigators haven’t released info on a potential motive behind the killings but noted that Moyer lived in the home using the victims and also the survivors prior to the shooting. The situation still remains under analysis.

“Our ideas and hopes are with your family and buddies from the victims,” the sheriff’s office mentioned within their pr release.
