Exactly what does Bob Ross’ former partners consider a brand new documentary where the famous painter’s boy accuses them of stealing his name?
Spoiler: they aren’t exactly fans from it.
Netflix released “Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Unfaithfulness, and Greed” on Wednesday and by doing this unleashed bombshell accusations concerning the painter’s apparently peaceful existence.

Wally and Annette discovered Bob early on in the career and helped him produce the show he’s most well-known for, “The Pleasure of Painting.” The Emmy-award-winning program ran on PBS from 1983 to 1994 as well as in each instructional episode, Bob completed an oil painting within half an hour. Steve maintains that Bob emphatically didn’t wish to sign within the legal rights and claims the Kowalskis used legal pressure and violence to acquire Ross’s name from Bob’s half-brother Jimmie Cox and the third wife, Lynda Bridge—to whom Bob left a part of his estate.
In 2017, Steve filed a suit from the Kowalskis after learning that Bob had amended his will shortly before he died departing his boy his ip legal rights. The organization claims that as the filmmakers arrived at to them two times, they believed they displayed too little transparency.
“Had the filmmakers conveyed with openness within their correspondence, Bob Ross Corporation. might have provided valuable information and context so that they can acquire a more balanced and informed film,” the statement reads. “However, because the director and producers transported up with the development with no outlook during Bob Ross Corporation., the ultimate narrative lacks considerable nuance and precision and has a obvious bias in support of individuals who have been interviewed.”
Bob Ross Corporation. states they did give a statement towards the filmmakers in May but it wasn’t incorporated.
Since Bob’s 1995 dying from lymphoma at 52, Bob Ross Corporation. has marketed everything from Bob Ross Chia pets to Monopoly games to clothing and chocolate. Their statement suggest the Ross merchandising operation continues.
“All from the products and merchandise seen today are simply a different way to share Bob’s message of positivity with individuals all over the world. Bob Ross Corporation.’s hope is the fact that products bearing Bob’s likeness and messages prompt smiles because they help remind people from the passion for painting Bob distributed to all,” the organization states. “Bob was especially wanting to explore methods to impart his sweet persona and also the pleasure he present in making art with even non-painters, too – especially children – through collectibles, toys and knickknacks, and that he was the driving creative pressure within the organization until his passing.”
