Ex-Boyfriend Billed In Milwaukee Mother Emily Rogers’ Murder

The estranged boyfriend of the missing 23-year-old Wisconsin mother who had been found slain a week ago continues to be arrested regarding the her murder, officials stated. 

Nicholas Matzen, 35, was arrested within the murder of Emily Rogers, whose body was found in St. Francis — a little city just south of Milwaukee — per week after she was reported missing. Matzen is Rogers’ recent ex-boyfriend and also the father of her 1-year-old child, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

“The Milwaukee Police Department is grateful for the community people that volunteered to look for Emily Rogers combined with the hard dedication and work from the Milwaukee Police Department Homicide Unit,” the department stated inside a statement delivered to Archiweekend.com on Thursday mid-day. “We send our greatest condolences towards the family and buddies of Emily Rogers which have been influenced by this tragedy.”

Rogers was was last seen at her residence near 25th Street and Becher Street in Milwaukee around 4:00 p.m. on April 26. The Wisconsin mother was reported missing by buddies four days later and subsequently listed like a “critical missing person” by city police.

Police retrieved Rogers’ remains on May 5 from the wooded area behind a commercial building near South Clement and East Waterford Avenues, WITI-TV reported. It had been apparently left within discarded Christmas tree.

Police haven’t yet released preliminary autopsy results, such as the 23-year-old mom’s cause, manner or approximate duration of dying.

“This is definitely an open analysis, we can’t provide that information at the moment,” a Milwaukee Police Department spokesperson stated.

Just before Matzen’s arrest, Milwaukee police had mentioned that multiple individuals were in child custody regarding the Rogers’ suspected homicide. Based on WITI, an individual had allegedly confessed to police they helped Matzen move Rogers’ body, that they had covered with an area rug.

Based on investigators, Rogers was wiped out just hrs after Matzen was launched from jail on April 27, carrying out a 10-day stint in jail with an unrelated misdemeanor vehicle charge.

Buddies of Rogers stated she’d said excitedly she’d just damaged track of Matzen before she stopped answering messages.

“I will easily notice it’s destined to be a [expletive] day,” Rogers authored inside a message to some friend the morning of her alleged killing, the Journal Sentinel reported.

Matzen had formerly been charged with burning Rogers’ possessions, together with a laptop, an infant bassinet, along with a bicycle, in 2020, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. He allegedly photographed the arson and sent Rogers pictures of him torching her things. Charges against him for the reason that situation, however, were later ignored, per the newspaper.
