Ambitious Nurse Shot Dead In Vehicle While Protecting Her Baby From Gunfire

A youthful Florida mother was shot to dying while attempting to shield her baby from gunfire now.

K’Mia Simmons, 21, was killed on Tuesday while traveling in the vehicle together with her 1-year-old daughter in her own arms and her 2-year-old daughter within the backseat, officials stated in a Wednesday press conference. The daddy of 1 of Simmons’ children, Praise Lovett, Junior., was driving the vehicle if somebody fired their way from another vehicle, local outlet WTVT reports.

“When all that required place, she would be a real mother. She covered her baby together with her body to make certain nothing became of that baby,” Simmons’ mother, Linda Simmons, told the opening.

While Simmons’ two kids weren’t hurt, the toddler was almost shot, Chief Anthony Holloway stated in the press conference. He added that among the bullets “went through the booster seat, therefore it was most likely the positioning of the baby — this is the only reason that baby is alive today.”

The chief clarified that investigators think that the mother “wasn’t the intended target.” He stated they believe the gunman were searching on her boyfriend. Now, police want to talk to both unknown shooter and Lovett, WTVT reports. Following the shooting, he apparently dropped the children off in a relative’s house and is not seen since.

“You aren’t a guy,” stated Lashawn Lester, the victim’s sister. referencing Lovett during a Thursday press conference. “You’re a coward because any real man you would not have remaining my sister to die around the roads.”

Linda Simmons stated her daughter would college to become nurse coupled with hopes of becoming a doctor.

“Their mother is they know,” she stated from the now motherless children, adding the babies “were always at her hip. She was fully dedicated to her children. She wasn’t one to visit clubs and spend time.”

As other relatives and attendees got emotional, she tearfully pleaded with people from the public, to come forward should they have info on the shooting.

Anybody with info on the shooting is requested to St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-7780, or call Crime Stoppers of Pinellas at 800-873-TIPS. Tipsters might be qualified for any reward as high as $5,000.
