The brother of Alex Murdaugh, the scion of the Sc legal empire whose apparently prosperous existence seems to become unraveling further every week, has expressed shock after understanding the recent widower have been misappropriating funds in the divorce firm.
For several weeks, Murdaugh is a character inside a double murder situation after he reported his wife and boy have been shot to dying on their own property in June. A week ago, the 53-year-old resigned from his Sc law practice, Peters, Murdaugh, Parker, Eltzroth and Detrick PA, among a continuing embezzlement scandal after which announced that he’ll be entering rehab — soon after he was hospitalized after being shot within the mind while altering a tire along the side of a road within the Sc Lowcountry over the past weekend.
“I was shocked, just like the remainder of my PMPED family, to understand of my buddy, Alex’s, substance abuse and stealing of cash,” Randolph “Randy” Murdaugh IV stated inside a statement on Wednesday, Bluffton Today reported. “I love my law practice family as well as love Alex as my buddy. As I will support him in the recovery, I don’t support, condone, or excuse his conduct in stealing by manipulating his most reliable relationship.“
Randolph Murdaugh continued to create a warranty that he’ll remain honest and use integrity for their own legal clients. In June, ten days after his nephew and sister-in-law put together shot dead, Randolph made an appearance on “Hello America” alongside his other brother, John Murdaugh, and tearfully defended his brother, Alex, stating that there’s “no way possible he might have anything related to [the murders].
On the day that that his brother released this newest statement, Alex Murdaugh was suspended from practicing law following a ruling through the Sc Top Court.
On Thursday, the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office released the 3-page incident report on Murdaugh’s shooting on Saturday mid-day by which he steered clear of having a superficial gunshot wound towards the mind. Reports established that he was altering a tire on his vehicle along Old Salkehatchie Road in Hampton County as he was shot by unknown suspects. Law enforcement report is scant on info on what went down but states that Murdaugh didn’t suffer a “visible injury” and it was not using alcohol or drugs. It doesn’t indicate anything about suspects. After police showed up in the scene on Saturday, Murdaugh was airlifted towards the Medical College of Sc in Charleston.
On Sunday, Murdaugh announced he could be getting into a medication rehab facility, apparently for opioid addiction, and that he issued an apology to “everyone I’ve hurt, including my loved ones, buddies and colleagues.”

In August, the 2020 deposition of Connor Prepare, Paul Murdaugh’s friend who had been hurt within the crash, is made public. Within the deposition, Prepare mentioned that although he is at a healthcare facility receiving treatment for any damaged jaw, Alex Murdaugh contacted him inside a corridor, Prepare stated, after which he told him to “keep my mouth shut and let them know I did not know who had been driving” the boat during the time of the accident.
While being deposed, Prepare also indicated that unsubstantiated rumors concerning the Murdaughs brought him to conform together with his friend’s father’s request.
Alex Murdaugh had settled a wrongful dying claim within the 2019 dying from the family’s housekeeper, 57-year-old Gloria Satterfield, who died after what court papers call a “trip and fall” in Hampton county. His insurer compensated out an amount of $500,000 for private liability and $5,000 inside a medical payment, based on the settlement document.
